Leica M6 Platinum 150 years In 1989 Leica produced the Platinum M6, the "150 Jahre Fofografie 75 Jahre Leica Fotografie." It commemorates the 75th anniversary of Leica, dating from the 1st Leica prototype in 1914, as having a substantial influence in one half of Photography's entire history.
Body parts are platinum plated, the body covering is karung snake leather. It was produced with a special presentation case, and with a special platinum 50/1.4 Summilux. Leica officially lists a production of 1000 cameras, regular production serial numbers 1757001 to 1758001. Filippo Giunta in "Leica M Mount Cameras" lists an additional 250, regular serial numbers 1758002-1758251. Additionally the series serial number start with each letter of "LEICA" followed by a number, 1 to 250. The series number of the camera shown is I 148.
